The LIGHT Project is made possible by LECOM’s receipt of a $2.2 million Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP) grant. The GWEP supports the development of a health care workforce that improves health outcomes for older adults by integrating geriatrics with primary care, maximizing patient and family engagement, and transforming the healthcare system. The GWEP grant recipients are encouraged to provide the primary care workforce with the knowledge and skills to care for older adults, and to collaborate with community partners to address gaps in health care for older adults through individual, system, community, and population level changes. The program offers the opportunity to realign the clinical training experience to be consistent with transformative healthcare systems while improving collaboration within the healthcare team.
